Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Week

This week isn’t even over but I am so glad that it has slowed down.

Monday and Tuesday were work days and both were busy ones, I had a lot to get accomplished so that I could take a short day Wednesday and comfortably be off for the rest of the week. On Tuesday I went to the store with the family because wouldnt you know I would have to run out of milk this week and so I wanted to get my WIC before the stores were unbearable…lol. I took the kids because they needed to get out of the house and this was a simple way to get them to go somewhere. Everything was going great until I walked into the door of the house. The hardwood floors felt like slippery glass and I fell with hands full of groceries right on my left knee cap, actually my knee cap caught the molding for the sunken living room… I was in instant pain and actually cried for a minute. It hurt even worse when I straightened my leg because I got a really nice pop (ugh). The rest of the night was spent with me on the couch or in bed getting help from John to walk…lots and lots of pain meds and ice. He ended up picking up dinner because it was obvious I wasn’t going to be standing…lol. My knee and right below my knee have a really nice purple/black bruise and standing for too long begins to be a real pain…lol. But I am feel fortunate that I didn’t break it… I thought for a second I might have. And why must it be my left knee every year that gets injured. So right now I am taking a break for any exercise because there is no way I can jog or stand on that leg. I think Saturday I’ll see what I can do.

On Wednesday I worked only a few hours at work came home and started making pies. I had a little helper

Once the pies were done I also made my very popular Salami/Peppercini rolls.

If you are wondering how I did Thanksgiving dinner, well I did with Ibprofen. Thanksgiving really was a lot of fun in my house, we took it easy in the morning because we only were doing a turkey roll here, and spent time playing games with the kids. Which they had a blast doing

In between games, I made snacks and John kept a fire going

I also took time to get pictures of me and John with the kids

The John entertained the kids for a while, so that I could get dinner all ready and we ate at 630 that evening.

Once all the plates were served and everyone was seated at the table we went around and all said something we were thankful for and then ate and talked and laughed.

After dinner was over everyone got into their pajamas and we all sat on the couch to watch our family tradition movie, A Christmas Story. The kids laughed and now are geared towards the next upcoming holiday. Today we put away the Fall Decor and are going to start decorating for Christmas and write out the letters to Santa…the kids are very excited.
